The purpose of Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM) is to respond to the needs of the hungry, homeless and low-income people in Florida's Volusia and Flagler counties. Halifax Urban Ministries cares for people in need by providing emergency services with the objective of keeping them from becoming homeless.
Halifax Urban Ministries is a private, nonprofit, faith based ministry that creates opportunities for individuals, churches, synagogues, mosques, organizations and businesses in the community to become directly involved in responding to the emergency needs of indigent people.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
