HUM Empty Bowls 2019

Take part in the 12th annual Empty Bowls event to raise money to support Halifax Urban Ministries effort to end hunger in our local area. A $25 donation allows you to pick out a handmade ceramic bowl made by local middle and high school students. Then sample soup and chilli served by local restaurants.  Salad, bread, dessert, and drinks are available.

Keep the handmade bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world.

Hope Place-Community Family Center

Hope Place Community Family Center - Daytona Beach FloridaThe vision for Hope Place launched in 2012 when former HUM Executive Director Troy Ray shared the vision with local philanthropist Forough Hosseini of transforming the former Hurst Elementary School into a center serving families. With her support and the support of many others, including county and local governments, local businesses and churches, the first family moved into Hope Place in February 2018. Ever since Halifax Urban Ministries has provided housing, meals, child care, counseling, education, and recreational services for low income families--helping them to attain self-sufficiency and move into permanent housing. Halifax Urban Ministries Hope Place is selling a limited amount of bricks to be placed in the courtyard in front of the administrative offices. Purchase your 4x8 brick are for only $100.00.
